for the painting project i used oil paint to make this weird, abstract face.
one technique i learned from this project was that oil paints blend softly into each other more so than acrylic but too much blending will mute the colors significantly. 1. i used a lot of tools this semester like a X-Acto knife for cutting cardboard ,a pottery wheel to make bowls and such, and wire to make figure forms. tools have helped me a lot because they get things more precise than just using my hands. 2. my understanding of tools and how to use them correctly has grown immensely. before this class I had no idea how to use pottery wheel but now I know how to use two different kinds. 3. my favorite material was clay because it is so versatile and u can choose if u want texture or smoothness. 4.one technique that worked well for me was spray paint. i didnt like my cat figure at first but once i spray painted it it came alive. i mixed different colors and sprayed at differet hardness's and it turned out cool. 5.one project where the materials helped me out was with my spotted avacado piece. it was just a plain clay coil piece but i used a glaze with shards of glass in it and the effect was really cool and made my piece look a lot better.
i had a problem getting the wire in the right form but i used tape and stuffing to fix it. i think the spraypaint was most successful because it really took my piece to the next level. if i could change one thing i would add purple flowers all over it first i made the form out of wire then stuffedt it then covered it with plaster then i sprsy painted it. i used sanding techniques to get it extra smooth
paige and sammie cardboard they are going to have boxses with circles on them and they are going to paint the circles different colors.
i had a problem getting the stuffing in but once i used tape it worked ok i think the most successful thing so far has been the different layers of paper mache and sculptamold and joint compound if i could change one thing i would make the nose/mouth a better shape i started with the wire frame and then i stuffed it with plastic bags and tape. then i layed sculptamold, paper mache, and joint compound and used sandpaper/files to smooth it all out. next im planning on painting it in a colorful color scheme
